Unlike previous releases, the State is not announcing the locations where this will be available ahead of time to avoid gatherings and crowds due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to track down a bottle, you'll need to head to the OHLQ Product Locator next week and see if any stores in your area were allocated any bottles.
As mentioned, the state procured nine (9) barrels worth of the product and they will sell for $39.99 for a 750ml bottle. No tasting notes were provided. Check out this article I posted on tracking down locations.
My Take
I like that the state is still getting single barrel selections and hard to find bottles and making them available to the general public. As I'm sure you know, I would prefer not to have the state determining supply and demand and rather open it up to the free market, but that's a different discussion for a different day.
For this specific release, $39.99 is a fair price for a single barrel selection. No age statement was provided so I don't know how long it's been aged. This is a release where if you happen to be in a liquor store and see this on the shelf... it's probably worth a look picking it up but I don't plan on spending any effort hunting it down.
What do you think? Let me know in the comments section.

I am unable to find the email from last week with the bottle description. My family was able to find an OHLQ selection 2 and was intrigued to see what their taste description was.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great bourbon! Nose is sweet, tobacco, earthy. Finish lingers as maraschino cherry! Need to go buy more! One of my favorites already.
