Michter's Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson states:
"The increased corn and malted barley used in the rye recipe really allows the barrel to transform the product into a super smooth, rich and complex rye whiskey with an elegance on the palate"The tasting notes on the new rye are:
Butterscotch and cinnamon with a hint of cherries on the nose; warming, rich, toasty vanilla and caramel upfront with a dry oaky spice on the finish.
Our Take
We've reached out to Michter's and they confirmed that they plan on having this available in Ohio... then it will be up to our state overlords on where it'll be available. In terms of the offering itself, we're huge fans of rye and we're excited to see a new Barrel Strength Offering. We haven't had a ton of Michter's, but we're looking to rectify that with some future reviews.
We reached out to Michter's for comment on if and when this will come to Ohio as well as the tasting notes. We'll update this post if we hear back. As always, we invite you to stay tuned to ColumbusBourbon.com for your bourbon and whiskey news and to check back often.
