As would be expected, each batch will vary in proof, and will be made up of of barrels aged six to eight years. Specific batch numbers will be show on each bottle with the following naming convention works:
- The alpha character designates which batch of the year that bottle came from
- The numeral that follows represents the month of the release
- The last two digits indicate the corresponding year of release
For example, the first release will be A120, with “A” representing the first batch of that year, “1” representing January, and “20” representing the year 2020.No pricing information was provided. Larceny Barrel Proof offers the following tasting notes:
Nose: Dark chocolate with spices and a hint of smoke
Taste: Rich baking spices and honey backed up with smooth oak influence
Finish: Long, lingering
Our Take
What's not to like about this? A new barrel proof coming from a big distillery like Heaven Hill. This is one we expect will be coming to Ohio at some point in 2020. The big unknown is the price, but I would expect this to be in the $45-60 range. If that's the case, this is one I can't wait to get my hands on... More expensive than that, it's a tough sell with so many other barrel proofs coming to market. If you see this in the wild or get a taste, drop a note in the comments.
