Last year's Weller 12 raffle had 684 bottles available across four locations. I have reached out to OHLQ for the number of bottles available this year.
For the Weller lottery that ended in June, there were 36,940 entries and 2001 winners for an overall win rate of 5.4%.... easily the highest odds of any State of Ohio Bourbon Lottery so far. I expect this lottery to have a win rate much lower due to fewer bottles available.
As with all Buffalo Trace products, the tasting notes are insane... for this release:
Caramel runs through this like a river, with eddies of vanilla, mint, toast, mocha, and pancake syrup. It has a nice but not overpowering char and oak, a little cinnamon, raspberry and raisin.
The scents include lanolin, almond oil and creamed corn. Its deep bronze color has been described to "beautifully reflect the light" with the "high-spirited, lusciously toasty, and animated bouquet that has top-notch Bourbon written all over it; a dry complex, and toasty palate.
I have no idea what 90% of that means, but someone took a creative writing class, so kudos to them. If you win, the bottles will be $39.99 plus tax and winners must purchase their bottle by September 28, 2020 or risk forfeiting the ability to purchase.
Entries may be submitted at this site during the lottery time-frame.
My Take
Weller 12 is one of the most sought after bourbons on the market and Buffalo Trace does a great job limiting supply to increase demand.
I recommend any Ohio resident who is eligible should enter this lottery. Weller could charge 3-4x the $39.99 price and still have more demand than they can handle so the price of this shouldn't scare anyone away. As always, I hope my readers win all the bottles! I'll be posting a reminder once the lottery is live.
