My Take

With the continued presence of the global pandemic, it makes a lot of sense for the State of Ohio to resort to lotteries rather than store releases to limit gatherings of large crowds to help slow down the spread.

These lotteries include a lot of bottles I have never heard of (Mister Sam, Rockhill Farms, etc.) that carry a solid price tag and goes all the way up to the super-expensive bottles that 99% of people either can't or shouldn't be able to afford. For me, lottery 1 and 2 and definite lotteries I'll enter... lottery 3 is questionable... I need to do some research on Mister Sam... and lottery 4 is a hard no.

As always, I'll have more analysis as we get closer to the start dates and I'll post reminders once the lotteries start.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments.

  1. Rock Hill Farms is part of the Buffalo Trace Mashbill #2 single barrel bourbons. This includes Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel, and Blanton’s Single Barrel. The two main differentiators between all of these single barrels are their varying proof along with varying warehouse aging locations.

  2. Also, Mister Sam is a Canadian and American whiskey Blend from Sazerac that is usually around 123 proof.

    1. Hi Greg, the State usually has the liquor stores advertise the lotteries as well as their website. I'll also be posting about them as well as reminders when the lottery opens. Glad to have you part of the site.

    1. Hi Greg, they are open for sign-up for a defined period of time (usually 7 days). The next lottery should be in December for the Buffalo Trace products (Pappy, etc.).
