Heaven Hill has announced the Spring 2021 edition of Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon. This edition comes in at 8 years old... and, since it's bottled-in-bond, the proof is set to 100 (50% alcohol). As you may know, for something to be labeled as bottled-in-bond, it must be the product of a single distillery from a single distilling season, aged a minimum of four years, and bottled at 100 proof or 50% alcohol by volume.
The spring edition is the first 8 year of this series and features bourbon pulled from three different rickhouses, on different floors, and two different production dates. No MSRP or tasting notes were provided. My Take
I love bottled-in-bond. It's making a lot of the variables equal and letting the buyer judge the bourbon based on the mashbill and aging process.
Sadly, Old Fitzgerald is seldom found in Ohio. The only products listed on the state website were the 9 year, 11 year, 13 year, and 15 year so I don't anticipate this will make it here. If you are in another state and you see this, and the price is around $75, I would buy it in a heartbeat. The bottle is beautiful and I'd love to try an 8 year bottled-in-bond.
