Lux Row has announced their annual release of their Blood Oath series with Pack 8. This release is Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey finished in Calvados casks. There are 51k bottles of this available at a suggested price of $119.99 per 750 ml bottle.
Lux Row master distiller John Rempe, who created this expression says:
I've once again sourced three great bourbons for Blood Oath Pact 8, and I'm particularly excited to include a bourbon finished in Calvados casks. The Calvados cask will bring additional tasting notes characterized by slight apple on the nose, with hints of vanilla and cinnamon, as well as flavor notes of ripe apples, juicy pears, butterscotch and even subtle hints of chocolate. Blood Oath Pact 8 is a bourbon I'm proud to share with bourbon lovers, but the recipe is a secret I'll be keeping to myself.
This release is a mixture of multiple bourbons, including a 14-year ryed bourbon and an 11-year ryed bourbon, as well as an 8-year ryed bourbon finished in Calvados casks. For those unfamiliar with Calvados... it is an apple or pear brandy from the Normandy region in northwestern France that is distilled from cider and aged for a minimum of two years in oak casks.
This release comes in at 98.6 Proof (49.3% alcohol). No tasting notes were provided.
My Take
This product is showing up on the State website so there is hope that this will be available in Ohio. I've never had any of the Blood Oath's so this is another that I'll be sitting out. I have seen these on the shelves in stores out of Ohio, so they are attainable if this is something you're interested in.
