Woodford Reserve has announced the release of the 2022 Woodford Reserve Batch Proof coming in at 118.4 Proof (59.2% alcohol). For this release, Woodford has combined a limited number of barrels and is released at the combined proof instead of watering down to the usual 90.4 proof (45.2% alcohol).
Chris Morris, Master Distiller says of this year's release:
Barrels drawn from the first floors of our heat cycled warehouses routinely possess lower proof presentations due the more relaxed angel share process found there. This batch had more of these barrels in its composition, and therefore a lower batch proof presentation.
No mention of where this is being released, but a couple of Ohio zip code searches on the Woodford product locator came up empty. It is showing a lot in Kentucky so that may be our only option. No suggested price or tasting notes were provided.
Depending on the price, this is something I would definitely pick up if I saw it in the wild. My price point would probably be in the $100 range... anything over that seems a bit excessive. I like the clean bottle it would look amazing on any bourbon shelf. I'm a bit said there isn't more information on this one provided by Brown-Forman (owners of Woodford).
