Michter's has announced the 2022 Edition of their Celebration Sour Mash. This edition will only feature 328 bottles to be released worldwide. This is the fourth ever Celebration release and the first since 2019. It's labeled as the 2022 Edition as it was supposed to ship last year, but they are blaming supply chain issues on the packaging for the delay.
Michter's Master Distiller Dan McKee says:Each bottle of the 2022 Edition comes in a special gift box that has a drawer containing a letter signed by McKee. The blend is made up of seven whiskeys that range in age from twelve to over thirty years old. It comes in at 112.8 proof (56.4% alcohol) and carries a whopping $6000 price tag. This is the second time that I have had the honor of working with our team to produce a Michter's Celebration release. This edition contains whiskeys personally selected by me from seven extraordinary barrels: three of them Kentucky straight bourbon and four of them Kentucky straight rye.
My Take
Holy cow, $6k for one bottle of whiskey! That's my only reaction. This isn't anything any of us will ever try, especially with only 328 bottles available, so I have no opinion on this release.
