Maker's Mark has announced their latest Wood Finishing Series with the release of BEP. The BEP stands for Barrel Entry Proof. Special finishing staves were used to amplify notes of vanilla and sweet spice that naturally occur from lower BEPs. BEP is the fifth and final bourbon in this chapter of the Wood Finishing Series.
The tasting notes are:BEP: Cask Strength 110.7 Proof (55.35% alcohol)
Nose: Toasty vanilla, subtle spice, caramel
Taste: Bright, vanilla, brown sugar
Finish: Medium body, balanced, rich caramel, dry baking spices
No price information was included and this release is offered nationally. It is currently not listed on the OHLQ site as available in Ohio but the last release of the Wood Finishing Series did make it to Ohio so fingers crossed.
My Take
Sad to see this series come to an end, even though I've never seen or tasted any of the various Wood Finishing Series bourbons. The last release carried a $59.99 + tax price and I would expect this to be in that range. If you see this out and about, pick up a bottle without thinking twice!
