Welcome to the Columbus Bourbon review for Heaven Hill Quality House Old Style Bourbon. I'm going bottom shelf for this review. This used to be called Heaven Hill Quality House Old Style Bourbon and came with age statements. However, it has sense been rebranded and the age statement removed. There is no reference to this on the Heaven Hill site, but everywhere on the internet is still saying they produce it.
Let's get started with the basics.

Let's start the review.
Taste - Score 14 out of 35
The nose was very light and there wasn't much there. I got a hint of corn. Co-reviewer Devon picked up the corn as well and called it corn-heavy and also noted the sweetness.
The taste was pretty basic, I didn't find much flavor and was disappointed. Devon picked up notes of caramel and apple vanilla.
Smoothness/Finish - Score 10 out of 25
The finish was mild to nothing with little to no burn. Devon noted that it did seem to linger on the tongue.
Intangibles: Color/Appearance - Score 8 out of 15
The bottle is pretty basic with a twist off top. This is expected at this price point, There isn't too much distinctive about the glass or the label. In terms of the color, it comes in lighter than other bourbons. Granted, Woodford and New Riff have a higher price point, but the difference is noticeable.
Availability - Score 2 out of 5
This product is not as easy to track down as I would expect. There are only a handful of places in Columbus with it in stock.
Columbus Availability (10/29/23)
Overall Value - Score 10 out of 20
The $21.99 question... should you buy this if you find it? I went looking at the bottom shelf hoping to find something that would be passible every once in a while... sadly, this bourbon isn't what I was looking for. So far, the closest I've come is the Evan Williams Bottled In Bond. If you're looking for something on the cheap end, I'd start there and pass on the Heaven Hill Quality House Old Style Bourbon.
Final Score: 44.5 out of 100 - Not one of my favorites
